|||||||||||||||Super Mario Bros X 1.4.2 Readme by Wohlstand||||||||||||||| ==Contents== - Intro - Download links - How to get it running - Command line arguments ========================================================== Intro ========================================================== Hello! Me (Wohlstand) and Kevsoft are downloaded from Chinese server package of SMBX 1.4.1. It is not official version, but we are will try to contact with developer of that to get source code. It has a lot of new things (some of those things are already implemented in the PGE Editor and in the PGE Engine), but some old things are buggy or not working: for example, - Sizable blocks size is limited, so, super-huge blocks which worked in SMBX 1.3 fine, will has reduced size in SMBX 1.4.1! - to exit from level test in the editor, you must use [Pause] control key instead of direct [Esc] key! - New File formats are NOT compatible with classic SMBX! PGE Editor, PGE Engine, and PGE Maintainer are able to open SMBX-38A's files but Chinese SMBX can: - open SMBX64-standard LVL/WLD Files (files from SMBX 1.3). However it automatically converts them into own format. BE CAREFUL AND MAKE BACKUPS! Otherwise, you can use PGE Editor or PGE Maintainer to re-save converted levels and worlds back into old format. - Supports PNG CGFX - More music formats (because Wohlstand's SDL Mixer X audio library has been used) - Direct X render has been used - Super-fast loading of game/editor etc. More other things you are can retrive yourself. ******************************************************************************** ==IMPORTANT NOTE:== SMBX-38A does automatical converting of SMBX64 levels and world map files into own new SMBX-38A format. Once you opened old level or world files by SMBX-38A, they are will be auto-converted into own format and you'll be not able open them in legacy SMBX Engine which will crash. The only way to revert this is using of PGE Editor or PGE Maintainer to re-save your level or world file into SMBX64 format back to be able open them in legacy SMBX engine again. ******************************************************************************** Good luck ;-) Video demo of this treasure (legacy SMBX 1.4.1): ========================================================== http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2nsvRlgdDk - First experiment on VirtualBox ========================================================== https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9oxiHOIfHPM - Showcase made by Bossedit8 ========================================================== More detail info: ========================================================== http://wohlsoft.ru/pgewiki/Super_Mario_Bros._X_by_38A ========================================================== ========================================================== Download links: ========================================================== Mirror 1 (My server): http://wohlsoft.ru/docs/SMBX_38A/smbx38a-1-4-4.7z Mirror 2 (Yandex Disk, Faster): https://yadi.sk/d/OMUm-shI3ESX7h ========================================================== How to get it running ========================================================== Tested on: * Windows XP SP3 x86 * Windows 7 x64 * Windows 8.1 If you have troubles to run, found bugs or imperfections, please report it to forums (if that wasn't already reported) http://wohlsoft.ru/forum/viewforum.php?f=58 5438A38A should fix that error or I (Wohlstand) will forward your report to him ;-) Also suggestes: Also try to delete config.dat file after applying of some changes ---------------------------------------------------- VirtualBox notes: ---------------------------------------------------- - you must install Guest add-ons and also "Direct 3D (experimental)" support (to install that you must reboot Windows XP and turn it into safe mode [F8 key before boot] and choice safe mode) - You must enable 2D and 3D acceleration in virtual machine preferences ("System" tab) ---------------------------------------------------- VMWare notes ---------------------------------------------------- - Not tested yet, but you must have support of 2d/3D acceleration ========================================================== Command line arguments ========================================================== A new update of smbx.exe can launch episode or level test from command line (or just drag smbx file to smbx.exe) Command syntax: smbx.exe filepath [mode p1id p2id] modes: For LVL files: 0 - 1p mode (Works by Default) 1 - 2p mode 2 - battle mode For WLD files: 1 - Launch save 1 (Works by Default) 2 - Launch save 2 3 - Launch save 3 p1id, p2id: -from 0 to 5 (0=NULL 1=Mario 2=Luigi 3=peach 4=toad 5=link) examples: Launch a test of the "test.lvl" in a battle mode with Mario and Luigi: smbx.exe d:\smbx\worlds\test.lvl 2 1 2 Launch a test of the "anoying-place.lvl" in a 1 players mode with Toad: smbx.exe d:\smbx\worlds\anoying-place.lvl 1 4 0 Launch a test of the world.wld with save 1 and with 1 player mode, with Mario: smbx.exe "worlds\the invasion 2\world.wld" Launch a test of the world.wld with save 1 and with 2 player mode, with Peach and Mario: smbx.exe "worlds\the invasion 2\world.wld" 1 3 1 Launch a test of the world.wld with save 1 and with 1 player mode, with Link: smbx.exe "worlds\the invasion 2\world.wld" 1 5 0
